The UAFWB Affirmation of FaithWe
believe that God is the Father Almighty and that He is the Maker of
Heaven and earth as the Scriptures have said. We believe in Jesus, that
He is the Christ and the Only Begotten Son of the Father. He is the
Way, the Truth, and the Life. He was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born
of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead
and buried. On the third day, He rose from the dead and declared
victory over the grave, death and hell. He has gone back to the Father
to prepare a place for us in His Kingdom. He will come back as He
promised to judge the world and to deliver the righteous. We believe in
the Holy Ghost, the Christian Church, the Communion of Saints, the
forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and eternal life for
all true believers. Amen
Mission Statement
The Mission of Bethel Light FWB Church Ministries, Inc. has been developed around Acts chapter 2. It is: To turn unchurched people into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ, equipping them to reach their full potential in Him.
We
have broken this statement down into some basic definitions. The
unchurched are those people who are either non-Christians or people who
have dropped out of the church. These people might be our neighbors,
our friends, our relatives, or people we have never met before. They
could be children, adults, or elderly people. They might be rich, poor,
or middle-class. They might be white, brown, black, or olive-skinned.
The one thing that they have in common is that they, like us, need to
have a vital personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our job, just
like the church in Acts 2, is to find them and give them the
opportunity that has been given to us - the opportunity to become fully
devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
To be a fully devoted
follower of Jesus Christ means becoming an Acts 2 Christian, it means
dying to self and living for Christ, it means becoming the best
husband, wife, child, father, mother, sister, brother, worker, boss,
citizen and/or church member, that you can be. To be a fully devoted
follower of Jesus Christ means to take Christ into your own being and
striving to become like Him in every way.
This leads us to the
next part of our mission statement. Our job as a church is not just
leading people to accept Christ as Savior, it is also equipping them to
reach their full potential in Him. Church leaders are called, to
prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ
may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the
knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole
measure of the fullness of Christ. (Eph. 4:12-13, NIV)
We are
not only looking for converts, we are seeking to equip those who are
won to Christ with the tools necessary to function in this world as His
fully devoted followers. We are called upon to teach both new converts
and mature Christians how to live a life that is pleasing to Christ and
that results in good works done in His Name.
May the God of
peace, Who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from
the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you
with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is
pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to Whom be glory for ever and
ever. Amen. (Heb. 13:20-21, NIV)
